What it does

Twilio provides the building blocks for texting, voice calls, and messaging apps, which developers connect to other systems through an API. Nonprofits use it to run hotlines, text alerts, and SMS programs, often through a partner or in-house developer. Pricing is pay as you go, with a charge per message or per minute plus a monthly fee for each phone number, so cost grows with usage. Twilio.org runs an Impact Access Program that gives eligible nonprofits credits and discounted rates.
